Former Tottenham striker Roberto Soldado has taken to Twitter to voice his anger over the early penalty decision in Tottenham’s Champions League final defeat to Liverpool.

Spurs were beaten 2-0 by the Reds on Saturday night, but fell behind very early on after a penalty was given against Moussa Sissoko for handball.

And ex-Tottenham ace Soldado, who played for the club for two years, was quick to express his dismay at the decision.

Writing on his personal account, he said: “No, no, no!

“It’s not penalty!!

“How is possible???”

OPINION

It’s probably fair to assume that Soldado won’t be the only person with affiliations to Tottenham who feels like this at the moment. You can understand his dismay, but if we’re being honest, it was probably a penalty. Sissoko may not have intended to handle it, and certainly it hit his chest before it struck is arm, but you can’t hold an arm out at that height in the box and not expect to be penalised. It was clever, perhaps even a little cunning, from Sadio Mane to take advantage of it, but it was also incredibly naive from Sissoko. From that point onwards Spurs were always going to struggle, and even though they were probably the better team on the night, just about, it was always going to be an uphill battle to recover from that against a Liverpool side as imperious as this. Even though they lost this one though, Spurs can hold their heads up high.
