Mauricio Pochettino has revealed his list of requirements that he expects from every Tottenham player – including new signings – ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Argentine made the comments after being asked what he looks for in new players, despite his Tottenham side not making a single signing in the previous two transfer windows under Daniel Levy.

In an interview with the UEFA Champions League final programme, as relayed by football.london, he said: “On an individual level, it’s about the willingness of each player to give his best. It’s a given that players at a professional club are talented. That helps us to achieve our goals.”

“The most important thing is the ability to adapt what we have, to what we’re up against every day. That’s a huge challenge when you‘re managing a squad. We need to have the same objectives and to work together to achieve them.”

Spurs lost in the Champions League final to Liverpool, but Pochettino received great plaudits for the work he has done with such a limited budget and no permanent home for the majority of the season.

Pochettino has already been linked with a number of moves for players this month, with possibly the strongest of those being Ryan Sessegnon and Tanguy NDombele.

OPINION

This seemed like a strange question for Pochettino to be asked. Especially down to the fact that Daniel Levy has not allowed his manager to bring in any new players in the previous two windows, which could have seriously hindered his side. Despite the lack of funding, the Argentine still managed to excel in his role and certainly earned the right to be a given a healthy budget to improve his squad this time around. This seems to have happened as well, with all the early rumours linking players that would cost a fair sum, such as Giovanni Lo Celso from Real Betis, who has a reported release clause of £88million. These sort of players would not be linked with the club without substance and Pochettino seems determined to add experience alongside young English talents such as Leeds United’s Jack Clarke. After delivering the club their first ever Champions League final, Spurs fans’ could expect some silverware around the corner should their owner back the man in charge, and early reports are definitely showing their intent to do just that.
