Lloris alternative for PSG

Paris Saint-Germain are expected to launch a bid for Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, should their hunt for David De Gea fail to go through, according to The Sun.

The newspaper claim that the French giants are keen on sealing a deal for the signature of the Manchester United stopper in the transfer window, and see Spurs’ World Cup winner as an alternative in their pursuit to replace Gianluigi Buffon.

Lloris has endured a contrasting season in-between the sticks, to say the least at Spurs, but did keep 12 clean sheets while averaging one goal conceded per game in his 33 appearances in the Premier League.

The 6’1″ keeper [Source: Transfermarkt] would move back to his home nation if a switch was to take place, after joining Tottenham from Lyon in 2012.

Good move for Spurs?

Despite an up and down campaign for Spurs, Lloris has been an integral part of their squad in the previous seven years and any move away for the French international could be disastrous.

With only Paulo Gazzaniga as the other recognised goalkeeper at the club, any move away for Lloris would make Mauricio Pochettino dive into the transfer window to replace him and with their reluctance to buy recently, it could be a dreadful outcome.

Likely to happen?

A mentioned in the report, any move for Lloris from the Ligue 1 champions would all depend on whether they can tempt De Gea away from Manchester United.

Should that not happen, 32-year-old Lloris could certainly be tempted by the prospect of moving back to his country and especially to the French champions, who will no doubt make a bigger push for the Champions League next season.

After failing to win any silverware once more, the grass could be much greener on the other side for the Spurs stopper.
