Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy surely has an ace up his sleeve over selling Christian Eriksen for the maximum price possible with Inter Milan already in contact regarding his services.

The London Evening Standard reported on Thursday that the Italian club had already been in contact over the 27-year-old playmaker’s future as they  have asked to be kept informed of the intentions of Eriksen.

The newspaper noted that Inter’s chief executive Beppe Marotta pursued Eriksen when he was a director at Juventus, and while he wasn’t successful then, it clearly shows he is fan of the player and won’t be put off easily.

Eriksen has made it difficult for Tottenham to get a lot of money for him as he has gone public with his desire to leave, and that means clubs know Spurs may have their hands forced with him.

As after all, who wants to keep a wantaway player that may not perform to his best due to his head being turned.

“I feel that I am at a place in my career where I might want to try something new,” Eriksen told Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet, as translated by the London Evening Standard.

“I have the greatest and deepest respect for everything that has happened in Tottenham, but I have also said that I would like to try something new.

“It depends on [Spurs chairman] Daniel Levy, but first another club has to come in, or I have to sit down at the table and negotiate a new contract. You can’t set a date yourself. If I have to go, then, hopefully, it will be a step up.

“[Real Madrid] is a step up. But it requires Real Madrid to call Tottenham and say they want me. And they have not done so yet, as far as I know.”

However all hope is not lost over Levy getting a good pay day out of Eriksen’s sale as based on his comments above, he is clearly sending an indirect message to Real Madrid to come and get him.

While he may be doing this to help lower his price in order for the Spanish giants to have a clearer run at him, Inter Milan already snooping around gives Levy some leverage during negotiations.

If Real Madrid come barging in trying to get Eriksen cheaper than his market value, Levy just has to call Inter Milan and try to spark a bidding war.

Based on the fact the Italian’s clubs director has chased the Spurs player’s services before, they’ll surely going to be willing to go toe-to-toe with Madrid for Eriksen.

So with that in mind, while Eriksen has made life difficult for Spurs to sell him for his maximum value by going public, Levy still has a trick up his sleeve due to Inter being keen.
