Everton have demanded a part-exchange deal with Tottenham if the north London side want to snap up Lucas Digne from them this summer, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper claim on their website that the Toffees have set out what they want from Spurs for the French international, who they value at £36million after his £18million move last summer, with £60,000-a-week (source: Spotrac) England ace Danny Rose and a cash fee their demands.

It is stated that Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino wanted Digne at the club last summer but was forced to see him move to Goodison Park instead and the Merseyside outfit are demanding a swap of the clubs’ left backs as well as money to get a deal done.

Good move for Tottenham?

Digne has looked like a quality operator since his move to Everton and it is no wonder they are setting such high demands if Spurs want to try to secure his signing.

They would obviously have to source a new left back if he were to go and so getting Rose in return would ensure that particular hurdle was dealt with immediately.

How much money they want in addition to the England international remains to be seen but you can imagine it would be a hefty amount, with Everton valuing Digne close to £40million.

Whether he is worth that sort of money or not is another argument entirely but after an impressive year in England, you can understand why the Toffees are reluctant to let him depart without them getting a good deal out of it.

Still, he would be great at Tottenham.

Likely to happen?

Now Spurs know what Everton are looking for, they will make a decision as to whether they should pursue it any further.

It could be an expensive deal for them and they might not want to lose Rose as one of their few homegrown players for the Champions League quota.

One to watch.
