Craig Burley has claimed that he will be surprised if Harry Kane doesn’t leave Tottenham in the near future.

The 25-year-old England captain hit 24 goals in all competitions this season, despite enduring an injury-ravaged campaign, and Burley believes it is only a matter of time before he looks for a move away from north London.

Speaking on ESPN, as quoted by the Express, he said: “I can see Harry Kane going, but not this summer.

“Harry Kane will leave Tottenham, I’ll be surprised if that doesn’t happen, for big money. But I think another full season or thereabouts and a full season fit and then Tottenham at some point will have to cash in.

“He’s going to force their hand at some point.”

OPINION

This is every Tottenham fan’s worst nightmare. Kane is Mr. Spurs, the homegrown talent who has spearheaded a return to the top table of English football, and the prospect of losing him will have many supporters absolutely terrified. That being said, it may not be the worst thing in the world. Sure, it would seem like a big blow at the time, but realistically, Kane would fetch a ridiculous fee. There is no reason why, especially factoring in inflation, the striker couldn’t end up going for in excess of £200 million, and if that does happen then it would provide the club with an almighty war chest. Using that money, Spurs could bring in three or four world class players to really kick them on. We saw a similar thing when Gareth Bale left, and in the long run, that has worked out much better for the club than if he had stayed. Perhaps Kane could do the same with his departure.
