Marco Silva made an inspired move to bring Andre Gomes to the club on loan from Barcelona last season, and the Portuguese star repaid his manager’s faith by having a great campaign at Goodison Park.

Everton were reported by the Liverpool Echo to be interested in making the Portuguese international’s stay permanent but face competition from fellow Premier League sides.

According to Le10 Sport, should they fail to make Gomes’ move permanent, Silva is set to open talks with Paris Saint Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot whose contract runs out at the end of JuneĀ – which could turn out to be an even better move for the Toffees.

The French publication claims that the longer time goes on, the more urgent Rabiot’s situation becomes and Everton could be set to pounce on that vulnerability – meaning the Toffees can forget about having to haggle for Gomes.

Rabiot could turn out to be a fantastic move for Everton in their midfield. In his career, he has been previously linked with clubs such as Liverpool, Tottenham, and Juventus, which shows his enormous potential.

At only 24-years-old, Rabiot has great potential to slot into any midfield in the Premier League. His power from deep positions and the ability to pass the ball around with ease could be a great asset to this Everton side. Making 20 appearances for the French giants this season, Rabiot scored two and assisted two goals and will leave Paris after winning 20 trophies.

The six-cap French international is ready for a move, and should Everton be able to pay his wages and persuade him to join over clubs such as Juventus, the Goodison Park faithful would be delighted.
