Newcastle United fans should be worried after the recent comments made by Rafa Benitez regarding his future.

According to ITV Journalist Peter Smith, Benitez is still in the dark over his future with the Magpies but has options for the future.

In a tweet posted from his personal Twitter account, Smith said: “Interesting chat with Rafa Benitez. He’s still in the dark about his future at Newcastle & any takeover bid,

“Also told me he consulted his friend Frank McParland (ex-Rangers scout) about the prospect of the Celtic job,

“He decided against for now, but would consider it in future.”

This is certainly a worrying sign for Newcastle, and considering everything currently going on at the club, the Magpies fans will be biting their nails over the uncertain future of their manager after Smith shared his chat with Benitez.

Although there isn’t too much of a threat in Celtic for the moment, after Neil Lennon accepted the permanent job at Celtic Park in May, however the Spaniard has made it clear that he would be open to considering the move in the future, which arguably adds pressure on Newcastle to get things over the line behind the scenes and complete contract talks with Benitez.

Now, it had been made aware to everyone that Benitez would be open to a move to Scotland, and has even spoken with colleagues about the prospect of managing Celtic, it surely is bad news for the Newcastle faithful as their club is still yet to have sorted talks with Benitez.

As it shows that Benitez is thinking about the possibility of managing others; and isn’t scared to let others know.

The Spaniard has managed 146 games for Newcastle since his arrival at St. James’ Park back in 2016, but his future with the club has been more in doubt than ever amid the recent takeover talks which have been ongoing over the last week.

Newcastle have been impressive since their return to the Premier League under Benitez, and they definitely need to try and hold onto him if possible, as one of the most recognisable managers in the world.
