Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount heaped praise on Everton attacker Dominic Calvert-Lewin after a training session with England’s U-21s.

The Toffees attacker took to personal Instagram account to share that he was recently on the winning team during a training session for his nation ahead of the European Under-21 Championships.

“Winning team, good few days on camp, time to rest up for the next one,” wrote Calvert-Lewin.

However it seems that Calvert-Lewin wasn’t just in the winning team in a recent training session but in Mount’s opinion was Man of the Match.

“MOTM,” wrote the Chelsea-owned midfielder via his Instagram account.

OPINION

Mount was clearly left in awe of Calvert-Lewin’s recent display in training, so you have to wonder how good was he? The 22-year-old is a promising talent but must have gone the extra mile to stand out for a player of Mount’s calibre to take the time to heap praise on him. Calvert-Lewin featured 38 times for Marco Silva’s side in his 2018/19 campaign and scored eight goals in the process. While the 22-year-old did impress in his outings for the Toffees, there was one disappointing flaw to his game. Despite Calvert-Lewin being played as an out-and-out forward, he still struggled to be clinical in front of goal. Given how regularly he played for the Toffees last season, it’s clear he should have hit double digits with the amount of chances that came his way. However the domestic season is done and there’s no more he can do. Yet if he impresses this summer for England’s U-21s and is among the goals in pre-season, perhaps he will keep his place in the Toffees starting line-up by the time the 2019/20 campaign starts.
