Mauricio Pochettino has had to deal with little pressure when it came to new arrivals in recent transfer windows, solely down to the fact that Tottenham have made no signatures in the previous two seasons.

Despite this, Spurs have not used their youngsters as frequently as one would think. Before their recent drought in terms of incomings, the players that Tottenham did buy before that period have now become much more valuable in the current market.

Christian Eriksen arrived in London for only £12million from Ajax in 2013 and is now linked with a move to Real Madrid in the summer, with Spurs reportedly demanding over £100million.

This doesn’t spell out good news for some of Spurs’ academy products who will be looking for a way into the first team set up. One of those players Joshua Onomah is certainly nearing the exit door at Spurs after failing to make an impact in the previous two years.

Despite Football.London reporting that Pochettino is an admirer of the 22-year-old, Onomah has recently completed his second loan spell in the Championship in as many years.

The most recent spell at Sheffield Wednesday wasn’t an enjoyable one for the England youth international, only making 15 appearances after an injury-hit campaign.

Onomah has made 13 Premier League appearances for Tottenham and they only add up to 92 minutes for the Lilywhites, meaning this summer could be the time for the attacking midfielder to look for a new permanent club.

Pochettino will know that a player as young as Onomah will need constant football, and with better options ahead of him even on Spurs’ bench, a drop down in league could be the only way the 22-year-old can get the playing time he wants on a permanent basis.
