OPINION
After not making a signing in the previous two seasons at Tottenham, Mauricio Pochettino has worked wonders to deliver consistent success at the club. The worst thing that could happen to the club after securing continued European football and their first ever Champions League final, is losing their main stars. Danish international Christian Eriksen has continually been linked with a move to the Spanish giants Real Madrid, after admitting that he was ready to make a step up in his career. On Tuesday it was reported by Spanish outlet AS that Zinedine Zidane had made Paul Pogba his main target rather than Eriksen and that Pochettino was now preparing a new long-term deal for the £75,000 per-week star [Source: Spotrac] to stay at Spurs. Many Spurs fans were unhappy with the reported offer of a new contract on Twitter, claiming they would much prefer someone who wants to play for the club rather than seek a move away. One Spurs fans angrily reacted by saying: “Worst thing that could happen to us. He clearly doesn’t wanna play for Tottenham anymore and you could also tell before by the way he was playing. And now we give this man so much money???”.

My only concern is that he didn’t seem to be happy at THFC any longer. I just don’t think players perform at their best if they are unhappy. #IMHO

Ngl I was looking forward to seeing a Eriksen leave so we could afford players. Hope this doesn’t deter us from buying players like Ndombele
