Inter Milan are interested in signing Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny, according to Calciomercato.

The news outlet says that the Italian giants – who will now play three at the back after the appointment of Antonio Conte as manager – are looking to add defensive cover for the likes of Milan Skriniar and Stefan de Vrij.

Calciomercato adds that 51-time France international Koscielny – who has made over 350 appearances in nine seasons at the Emirates – is seen as a good option.

The 33-year-old’s contract runs out next summer and he could be available for a cheap fee this summer, with Inter reportedly keen to get a deal in the coming months.

Good move for Arsenal?

Koscielny only made 17 Premier League appearances last season but in the Europa League, he was influential, making 10 appearances as the Gunners reached the final. But the Frenchman is cursed with injury problems, especially in his Achilles. He missed 21 games because of such an injury between the end of the 2017/18 season and the opening months of last season, which obviously ruled him out of action for a fair amount of time. While Koscielny is unreliable with his injury record, he is still a good defender and it would be a bad move for Arsenal to sell him this summer.

Likely to happen?

If the right fee comes in for Koscielny, then Arsenal could well sell up. There is a chance that the centre-back may not sign a new deal when his current one expires next summer, which means he would be available on a free. If Arsenal have indeed had thoughts about letting Koscielny go, they will surely want to do it this summer and will want to cash in while they can.
