To say that Eros Grezda has failed to live up to expectation at Rangers would be one of the biggest understatements you can make at Ibrox – so does the attacking flop have a future in Glasgow?

With two goals and an assist for the Light Blues in 17 appearances, he has hardly made an impact under Steven Gerrard, injuries and poor form leaving him sidelined for much of the Gers’ campaign.

For a 12 cap international, the Ibrox faithful would have been expecting so much more and while he did show the odd glimpse or two of actual talent, many will have seen their expectations plummet like a rock.

It seems as though Steven Gerrard is not best impressed either, Football Insider claiming that the Albanian winger has been the biggest disappointment at Rangers this season and that the club are open to offers for his exit.

You can understand why they are keen to recoup the £2million spent on his capture last summer – that money having the potential to be reinvested into the squad for someone who could make a bigger impact.

However, can Gerrard really afford to let Grezda go?

With Ryan Kent back at Liverpool and Glenn Middleton reported by Football Insider to be on his way out on loan, it leaves just Grezda, Jordan Jones and Daniel Candeias as the senior wide options at the club – Jamie Murphy still recovering from his massive injury layoff.

With the Europa League qualifiers right around the corner when Rangers get back to their summer preparations, Gerrard needs to get a couple of new wingers on board, the Light Blues said to be working on deals for Kent and Liverpool teammate Sheyi Ojo, or face giving Grezda a lifeline among the senior side.

He might not have impressed to date but sometimes needs must and it appears as though Gerrard may well have to call upon the 24-year-old this summer.
