Martin Dubravka has every right to be delighted, as he has certainly earned the right to become Newcastle’s main keeper. Benitez will no doubt be majorly impressed over the Slovakian, who has been phenomenal in the previous Premier League campaign. Despite a couple of mistakes in games against Manchester United and City, Dubravka has been a pivotal part of the success at St James’ Park, especially in the second half of the season. The 30-year-old will be a mainstay for years to come under his Spanish manager, and will become even better should his side make improvements to their defence in the transfer window. Dubravka was a bargain when joining in 2018 from Sparta Praha for only £3.5million, and has already paid Newcastle pack and more in his year and a half stay at the club.
