Leeds United are showing interest in Carlisle attacker Liam McCarron, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claims that the League Two club will demand a figure of £250,000 for the 18-year-old after impressing in his first full season at the club.

The Daily Mail reports that Leeds will face a number of English clubs for his signature in the summer, with Wolves, Derby County, and Sheffield United all having watched the starlet throughout the campaign.

Despite impressing in his breakout season, McCarron has failed to deliver a high amount of goals or assists. The winger only provided one assist in his 16 appearances in the previous campaign. In the youngsters’ defence, he has only started 7% of games at Carlisle, predominantly being used as a substitute.

Good move for Leeds?

This would most likely be a signing for Leeds’ outstanding academy. After their Under-23’s won the Professional Development League this season, Marcelo Bielsa will no doubt look to promote some of the club’s youngsters to the senior side.

McCarron has made his senior debut and would bring that small level of experience to a young side, with the prospect of playing in the Championship. With three other sides interested, McCarron has certainly impressed and Leeds’ youth side could benefit from his arrival.

Likely to happen?

Leeds have made plenty of signings for their youth sides in the past few years. McCarron definitely fits the mould but as it stands, the Whites and Victor Orta are looking to improve the first team in the hunt for promotion to the Premier League.

The Daily Mail only reports the Whites’ interest as them looking at McCarron and another season in League Two could be more beneficial for the starlet. At £250,000, Leeds could definitely be tempted to take a chance on the winger to get ahead of the competition. This is definitely one to look out for.
