Jack Clarke is on the verge of leaving Leeds for Tottenham – and it looks like he’s going with the blessing of the majority of fans.
Former Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Phil Hay claimed that he was in London for a medical today and the man with his finger on the Leeds pulse had more details about the potential deal.
In contrast to a Football Insider report earlier that said he would be sold for £8.5million, Hay claimed the fee would be close to £10million and that Leeds had negotiated a sell-on clause and first option on the player if Tottenham ever send him out on loan.
That’s actually a decent deal for a player who only had a limited impact on the Leeds first-team last season.
His potential is huge and if he goes on to fulfill his potential Leeds will get a chunk of money from any future sale.
Given all of that, there are plenty of Leeds fans who are happy with the deal.
This is born from realism rather than any desire to see Clarke go, though. Missing out on promotion has meant money is tight at Elland Road and if they have to sell to buy, Clarke can seemingly go with their blessing.
Here’s what Leeds fans are saying about the deal:
IMO thats not bad for a player who has started a handful of championship games. Paying for potential, but not guaranteed to realise that potential.

Good deal for an impact sub who didn’t play a full season. Let’s get on with it

You have to accept this deal. I’m sorry but he got found out too early in the championship for me. Yes he has great potential to develop but we are not a cash rich club and we have Biesla for one year. We have to do it this year otherwise we are back to square one AGAIN @LUFC ????????

We’re finally learning. Great deal all round

Really happy with that! Sell on clause was essential for it to be worth it. Well done Radz!

Alot better than the £8m that was being mentioned. Hopefully this can trigger the players coming in.

Good deal for #lufc not proven over a whole season and struggled after the virus. Yes he has potential but we can’t wait for that. Need immediate impact, hope the moneys invested.

Great business. Dont care what anyone says.

If that’s the deal then we couldn’t he wished for a better deal ????????
