Celtic are in the hunt to sign defender Amir Rrahmani from Croatian giants Dinamo Zagreb, according to DH.

The Belgian news outlet claims that Standard Liege and Amiens are also interested in signing the 25-year-old Kosovo international, who is valued at up to £1.8million by Dinamo.

It is understood that Belgian side Standard Liege are currently winning the race to sign Rrahmani, who can play at centre-back and left-back.

Good move for Celtic?

Rrahmani might be a cheap addition to Neil Lennon’s squad this summer and could effectively sort out two issues in the defence.

Celtic need to sign centre-backs this summer and they also need to sign a back-up left-back to fill in when Kieran Tierney is unable to play.

Rrahmani made 26 appearances in all competitions for Dinamo last season and most of them came at left-back.

The 6ft 4 [transfermarkt] colossus is naturally a centre-half, but it would be good for Celtic to have a defender who can play in more than one role and his £1.8million valuation seems quite fair.

Likely to happen?

At the moment, Celtic appear to be losing out in the race for Rrahmani with Standard Liege seemingly in pole position for the Kosovan’s signature.

The Hoops need to step up their efforts this summer because it has been way too quiet at Parkhead in the opening weeks of the transfer window.

Lennon is bound to oversee several players leaving the club, so he needs to get a headstart on arrivals.
