Brentford have rejected Aston Villa’s move for Said Benrahma, according to Sky Sports journalist Rob Dorsett.

The reporter claimed via his personal Twitter account on Monday that Brentford have no interest in selling the Algerian attacker, 23, this summer.

It is understood that it would take a “huge offer” for them to consider selling the wide-man to their former manager Dean Smith, who left Griffin Park midway through last season to help guide Aston Villa back to the Premier League.

Good move for Aston Villa?

Benrahma may only be a Championship player at the moment, but he definitely seems as though he is someone who can step up into the Premier League and play for a team like Villa.

Smith knows him well and after scoring 11 goals and supplying 17 assists in 45 appearances across all competitions in the 2018/19 season, it is no surprise to see the Villans making a move to sign the Algeria international.

If it does cost a lot of money for Villa to sign Benrahma, then they should maybe give him a miss.

However if Brentford’s definition of a big offer may have a different meaning to what Villa would consider a big offer to be.

Likely to happen?

Brentford’s stance is pretty clear but football does talk in football and something could still happen if Villa make a bigger offer.

Benrahma’s head may even be turned amid this interest from Villa, so fans should not write this one off yet.
