Aston Villa have learned the fee needed to sign Liverpool winger Harry Wilson this summer, according to the Mirror

The outlet report that Liverpool are ready to spark a bidding war for the winger and are believed to have set a price tag of £21million for the Wales international, with Jurgen Klopp weighing up whether to sell him or send him out on loan again.

It is thought that Aston Villa are one of several Premier League clubs interested in making a move for Wilson, following Dean Smith’s side earning promotion to the Premier League last term.

However, the Mirror report also reveals that there is also interest from teams in Germany, with clubs monitoring young British talent after the success of Jadon Sancho at Borussia Dortmund.

Good signing for Aston Villa?

Wilson would be an excellent addition for Aston Villa ahead of their first season back in the English top flight, with the winger full of confidence following an impressive loan spell with Championship side Derby County last term.

The 22-year-old provides plenty of attacking threat, having scored 18 goals in 49 appearances for the Championship last season and he is just the sort of player needed to improve Dean Smith’s squad ahead of next season.

At the age of just 22, Villa will have plenty of time to develop Wilson further and with the Wales international potentially available for £21million, Smith’s side could secure themselves a healthy profit in the coming years were he to come in and perform well at Villa Park.

Likely to happen?

As the Mirror report suggests there are a lot of clubs in both the Premier League and the Bundesliga who are keen on making moves for the 22-year-old, which means Aston Villa are going to face heavy competition for his signature.

There is also the question of whether Liverpool will elect to loan him out next season, rather than sell him to another side, which could make it difficult for Villa to secure a permanent deal for Wilson.

However, Smith’s side can offer Wilson the opportunity to develop his game in the Premier League, which the winger is likely to want after impressing in the Championship over the past year.
