COMMENTARY

Some Rangers fans worried about defender James Tavernier exiting after he posted a wordless tweet on his verified Twitter account. The 27-year-old right-back posted a tweet with no words and just shared a picture of himself with Liverpool loanee Ryan Kent in the background. Despite Tavernier’s tweet being harmless on the surface, it seemed to cause a section of Gers supporter to break out a conspiracy theory. For some reason several Rangers fans replied to Tavernier’s tweet to either ask him not to leave or insist that he is going nowhere in order to bait him into confirming his future. It was an odd reaction to the defender’s tweet but perhaps the outburst of some fans was down to Steven Gerrard’s latest remarks. The Gers boss confirmed that there had been “calls” about Tavernier  previously, as quoted by the Scottish Sun, before sharing he wanted the defender to stay. So perhaps the thought of clubs being keen on the full-back has some Rangers fans ready to worry at every cryptic sign.
