Alfredo Morelos returned to the Rangers lineup earlier and marked his return with a goal as the Gers fell to a final-day defeat at Kilmarnock. The Colombian bagged his 30th goal of the season but his side were defeated 2-1 thanks to an 89th minute Eamonn Brophy penalty, leaving the Light Blues to finish the season in second place with 78 points. The 22-year-old started alongside Ryan Kent and Daniel Candeias as the Gers hoped to build on their 2-0 Old Firm win against Celtic last Sunday but they have now finished nine points behind their rivals – although Morelos’ performance had fans raving. The Columbia international has been sent off on five occasions this campaign for Rangers and his future has been in question but the Gers will no doubt not want to lose a man capable of scoring that many goals. Steven Gerrard will continue his Rangers rebuild this summer but Morelos may attract serious interest from other clubs given his fine goalscoring form.

This Is Futbol has rounded up some of the best tweets as Rangers fans reacted to Morelos’ goal and performance. Many were delighted that the striker announced his return with a goal:
