Some Leeds United fans were left dismayed on social media after it was reported that their club were pursuing Paris St Germain attacker Jese Rodriguez. Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo reported on Saturday evening that Leeds were keen on the 26-year-old winger after he had returned to PSG following a loan spell at Real Betis. While potentially signing a player from such a high-profile club would normally reek of ambition and be celebrated by supporters, this pursuit just reeked for all the wrong reasons. Jese has struggled to deliver the goods for multiple seasons and his previous spell in England with Stoke City is remembered for all the wrong reasons. The winger didn’t have any real impact on the Potters’ fortunes and managed to make only 13 appearances. If Jese had left England and wowed at another club, then Leeds’ interest would make sense even if it was a gamble; but the fact of the matter is it has been many years since he has impressed. Therefore it was no wonder one Leeds fan claimed the pursuit sounded horrific when reading through the player’s recent highlights.
