Celtic are set to receive a bid for Olivier Ntcham from Portuguese giants and title hopefuls FC Porto after their long term hunt for the French midfielder, according to the Scottish Sun.

The newspaper claim on their website that the 23-year-old has been the subject of two approaches in the past from the Primeira Liga outfit which have both failed but they are ready to launch another move to seal his capture this summer.

Ntcham has made 35 appearances for the Hoops in an injury hit campaign this season and is said to be seen as a replacement for Hector Herrera at Porto, who go into the final day of the Portuguese top flight chasing the title behind Benfica.

Opinion

Ntcham might have played as many games as most professional footballers might expect to play in a season but at Celtic that is still some way off being a mainstay in the side. There are some at Parkhead hitting 50-plus games in a single campaign, primarily due to their qualifying campaigns for the Champions League and/or Europa League, as well as the numerous cup games they play domestically. Injuries and a lack of form have meant he has been used primarily as backup, rather than as a regular in the starting XI, by both Brendan Rodgers and current boss Neil Lennon and so the club might be open to letting him leave this summer. However, if he can get back to his best, which we have seen in flashes during his time in Glasgow, then he could be a dangerous weapon for the Bhoys to call upon going forward.
