Wolves have moved in front of a number of clubs in the race to sign Liverpool attacker Rafael Camacho this summer, according to the Football Insider.

The reliable outlet report that Wolves are currently in pole position to secure Camacho’s signature ahead of Bundesliga sides RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund, as well as Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon, with Liverpool increasingly likely to make him available to be bought this summer.

It is thought that Liverpool are prepared to receive multiple offers for Camacho from clubs in the top flights in Germany, England, France and Portugal, with Nuno Espirito Santo thought to believed to being convinced Camacho has the potential to join Wolves’ collection of other Portuguese players in his starting line-up.

Good signing for Wolves?

Camacho is a very promising young attacker and has the potential to grow into an excellent first team player, which he has shown during his season with Liverpool’s youth teams, where he has scored an impressive 12 goals and recorded eight assists in just appearances.

The teenage winger has also demonstrated his ability to be tactically flexible, making two first team appearances for Liverpool’s senior side, one in the Premier League and one in the FA Cup, in both of which he played at right-back rather than his natural attacking position.

That could make him a valuable addition for Nuno’s side, with the Portuguese coach electing to play with wing backs in both 3-4-3 and 3-5-2 formations this season, meaning Camacho could potentially be useful in either a wing back or more advanced role for Wolves.

Likely to happen?

Liverpool are likely to be selling Camacho this summer, and Wolves appears to be a decent option for the winger, with Nuno believing that he has the capability of fitting in alongside the club’s other Portuguese players, such as Joao Moutinho, Ruben Neves, Diogo Jota and Rui Patricio in his starting line-up.

However, Wolves are likely to face a lot of competition for the winger which could mean that they will need to act swiftly if they are to secure his signature.

Nuno’s record with developing Portuguese players could make Wolves a very attractive option for Camacho, with the opportunity to prove himself in the Premier League another potentially encouraging factor for the teenager.
