It was a night to forget for Arsenal in Baku as they slumped to a 4-1 defeat in the Europa League to rivals Chelsea on Wednesday night. It was a cagey first half performance by both sides as they went into half-time level at 0-0 but five goals in 22 minutes saw Arsenal collapse miserably and hand the trophy to their Premier League rivals. There weren’t many positive notes to take from this night apart from the brief introduction of 19-year-old Joe Willock, who enjoyed a great cameo in Unai Emery’s midfield. The Gunners faithful reacted on Twitter to the youngster’s brief spell at the end of the game, where he should have scored but had a great effect going forward compared to the man he replaced in Mesut Ozil. Fans praised Willock on social media, with one fan saying: “Willock has done more since coming on than Ozil has all season”. Many other fans reacted with the suggestion that Willock needs to play more next season. At least there is one silver lining to what was a bitterly disappointing night for those in north London.

I don’t care if he’s missed them, at least Willock has actually made himself some chances. That’s more than you can say for most of the team.
