West Brom have surely been handed a big boost in their reported hunt to hire Danny Cowley as their next manager.

Sky Sports reported via their live transfer blog on Friday [12:32pm] that Lincoln City boss Cowley, 40, is one of four targets that Albion want to hold talks with as they aim to find a permanent replacement for Darren Moore, who was sacked in March.

It is understood that West Brom would have to pay £500,000 in compensation fees to hire Cowley, but their efforts to hire the former Braintree manager may have just gotten a lot easier judging by the rest of Sky’s update.

According to this report, Cowley has been left frustrated by the transfer budget he has been given after leading Lincoln to promotion from League Two this season.

Cowley has won two promotions in three seasons with the Imps, taking them from the National League to League One, but it does not seem as though he has too happy with what he has been given to spend in the transfer window ahead of a campaign in third-tier.

Sun journalist Alan Nixon has previously reported that Cowley is not keen on filling the vacancy at The Hawthorns, but this latest news about Cowley could make him reconsider his future at Sincil Bank and re-evaluate West Brom’s efforts to hire him.

He would be an outstanding appointment by the Baggies, so this latest update is great news for them.

Cowley is a serial promotion winner and has done wonders at Lincoln by taking them from the National League, up to League One in just three seasons in charge.

He also led them to the FA Cup quarter-finals when they were a non-league club and won the EFL Trophy last season, beating third-tier Shrewsbury in the final at Wembley.

West Brom need someone who has a good track record as their next manager, but they also need to avoid hiring from within and hiring the same old stale choices of managers after a bad run with the likes of Tony Pulis and Alan Pardew.

Cowley fits them well and hopefully this latest news can serve as a boost for them.
