Lincoln manager Danny Cowley is not interested in the West Brom job, according to Sun reporter Alan Nixon.

The reliable journalist claimed via his personal Twitter account on Thursday that the 40-year-old “doesn’t fancy” being the next Baggies manager, even though he is reportedly a candidate for the vacancy at The Hawthorns.

The Express & Star has recently claimed that Cowley is being considered by West Brom as they aim to find their next permanent manager.

OPINION

James Shan had done well while in interim charge of West Brom since Darren Moore was sacked in March. However after the Black Country club were beaten in the play-offs on Tuesday, the club has understandably took the decision to look elsewhere for Moore’s full-time successor. Cowley might have been a decent appointment for West Brom but it now looks as though a move for the Lincoln manager is off the cards with him not fancying a move to The Hawthorns. Cowley was one two promotions in three seasons at Lincoln and has also led them to the FA Cup quarter-finals and an EFL Trophy victory. He is about as good as they get for young up and coming managers who have proven themselves in the lower leagues. Even though he doesn’t want the West Brom job, it will be interesting to see if he changes his mind if a good offer is made to him by Baggies chief executive Mark Jenkins. However with Jenkins in charge, there’s no chance of that happening.
