Andy Walker has mooted the possibility of Alfredo Morelos making his final appearance for Rangers when they take on Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Sunday afternoon.

Morelos, 22, has been in red-hot form ever since joining the Gers in 2017 but the Colombia international has been widely criticised for his poor disciplinary record after being sent off five times this season.

Ex-Celtic player Walker has suggested that Morelos’ transfer value has dropped because of his ill-discipline and has raised the question of the striker making his last outing as a Rangers player this weekend.

“Will this be his last appearance in a Rangers jersey? 29 goals is a magnificent return, but huge question marks remain on his discipline and consequently his value in the transfer market,” said Walker on the Sky Sports website when naming Morelos as his key man for the match against Kilmarnock.

OPINION

It should be Morelos’ final appearance for Rangers. Even though the fans love him and he has been scoring goals for fun in Scotland, Steven Gerrard has proven in the last few weeks that they do not need the Colombian to start every game to win. Since his red card against Celtic in March, Rangers have won six matches on the bounce. He was suspended for the first four and come off the bench in the last two, so it is pretty clear that Jermain Defoe, or someone else if Gerrard wants to sign them in the summer, can do a similar job to Morelos. Also Rangers will run the risk of seeing his value depreciate if they keep him on and he keeps getting into trouble on the pitch. Clubs will no doubt want to sign the ex-HJK Helsinki star in the summer so this is the best time to sell up. Hopefully fans get one last look at him at Kilmarnock on Sunday, without anything controversial happening.
