Tottenham are likely to target four new players ahead of the summer transfer window with the club looking to overhaul their squad ahead of next season, according to a report from the Daily Star.

The outlet report that Tottenham, who did not make a single addition in either of the last two transfer windows, are targeting AS Monaco midfielder Youri Tielemans, Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish, Fulham winger Ryan Sessegnon and Malcom from Barcelona this summer.

It is also thought that defender Toby Alderweireld is likely to be leaving the club during the summer, due to the reported £25million release clause in the Belgian’s contract.

Tottenham are reportedly looking to spend £100million this summer to improve Mauricio Pochettino’s squad and will fund their transfer dealings by selling players, according to a report from The Times.

OPINION

This is going to be a very crucial summer transfer window for Tottenham, with the futures of Pochettino and a number of the club’s players up in the air. Tottenham have made excellent progress in the last few years under Pochettino’s guidance and have managed to finish in the top four once again in the Premier League this season, as well as reaching the Champions League final without making a single new signing. However, the club have suffered 13 defeats this campaign which is six more than the previous season and shows that Pochettino’s side are in need of some extra reinforcements so that they can continue to make progress. The likes of Tielemans, Grealish, Sessegnon and Malcom would all provide some extra competition for places, and could all help to improve the quality of Tottenham’s squad. Spurs have suffered injuries to the likes of Harry Kane and Harry Winks this season which has left Pochettino’s squad a little light, therefore they are in need of some more players who could come in and make a difference when key players are out. Whatever happens this summer Tottenham need to make sure that they enter the new season stronger than when they entered it, which could well be a very big challenge for Daniel Levy.
