Tottenham have tabled a bid worth £52.9million for Real Betis midfielder Giovani Lo Celso, but are not the only team in pursuit of the Argentina international, according to Marca.

The Spanish news outlet claims that Manchester United and Real Madrid also want the 23-year-old this summer, with the La Liga giants approaching his agent about a potential move to the Bernabeu.

Diario de Sevilla has recently reported that Spurs have made a move to sign Lo Celso, but Real Betis want £88.2million for the player who was signed on a loan-to-buy basis from Paris Saint-Germain last year.

OPINION

Tottenham need to add to their central midfield options in the summer and Lo Celso is certainly someone who can do that and add a bit more quality to that area too. The former PSG midfielder was in stunning form for Real Betis this season. He scored 16 goals and supplied six assists in 46 appearances across all competitions for the La Liga side, which is a great record for someone who played in the centre of the midfield for most of the campaign. Tottenham do not really need a goalscorer or an assist-getter in that area of the pitch, they need someone to replace the physicality of Mousa Dembele, but if Christian Eriksen leaves this summer, then Lo Celso could be a fitting replacement. Real Madrid and Man United’s interest in Lo Celso should be a concern for Tottenham but at least they are putting themselves out there to sign players of this quality.
