Tottenham have reportedly missed the chance to extend Fernando Llorente’s contract by an extra year and surely many fans wouldn’t be as gutted as they are now if this update was given a few weeks ago. According to the Daily Mail, the Spanish striker looks set to leave North London in the summer with clubs from Spain, Italy and France interested in snapping him up. It is understandable to see why some Spurs fans would be gutted with the contract news about Llorente because he has played such a key role in them reaching the Champions League final. He scored in the quarter-final win against Manchester City and his impact off the bench in the second leg of the semi-final with Ajax was crucial to Spurs winning. However Llorente’s overall spell at Tottenham has been very poor and Mauricio Pochettino should be looking to sign someone a lot better than him in the summer. It is a shame because of how well he’s played as of late but it would be very short-sighted of Pochettino and Daniel Levy to not consider his overall performance in the last two years.

Sad to hear.. but he’s getting on a bit for us. He’s on 90k a week and that can free up wages for a player coming in.. been class for us this year ?
