Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is top of Juventus’ shortlist in their hunt for Massimiliano Allegri’s replacement this summer as an exit is touted by those close to the Argentine, according to the Times.

The newspaper claim on their website that the Spurs boss is joined by Chelsea Maurizio Sarri as leading the potential candidates for the Italian giants, who sealed the Serie A title once again this season.

The report also quotes a source, who is said to have worked closely with Pochettino, as saying that it would not be a surprise to see him leave Tottenham if they manage to seal the Champions League title against Liverpool on Saturday.

Opinion

Uh oh. The last thing Tottenham fans want to think about going into their clash with Liverpool is Pochettino leaving but their fears will have ramped up significantly after this claim. Could it be that the north London faithful actually want to see their side fall at the final hurdle if it means keeping the Argentine on board? That is unlikely, but you do have to wonder what more Pochettino can achieve at Tottenham if they do seal Europe’s most coveted trophy. Is he really going to view the Premier League as an achievable goal? Manchester City and Liverpool were miles ahead of the chasing pack last season and nothing suggests things will change when the new campaign kicks off. He has nearly completed his project at Tottenham and the likes of Juventus would offer him the opportunity to push for domestic silverware with some of the world’s best players at his disposal. It would be a different challenge but one he would no doubt relish.
