On-loan Rangers winger Ryan Kent has revealed that the chance to win silverware could tempt him back to Ibrox when his temporary stay expires at the end of the season.

The 22-year-old, who was signed by Gers boss Steven Gerrard from Liverpool last season, picked up the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year award after scoring six goals and assisting six others in 23 Scottish Premiership appearances this season.

The forward’s future in Glasgow remains unclear, but speaking to the Daily Record, Kent said the allure of silverware and the chance to continue working with Gerrard could tempt him to stay in Scotland.

“Possibly, because I came up here to win trophies and that’s a department we’ve failed in this season,” Kent said. “So it would be nice to come back and win silverware.

“The size of the club brings out the best in me. The club is back on the right track, especially with the manager they have. He has been excellent for me.

“I want to finish the campaign strongly. I’ll have plenty of time to think about the other stuff and discuss it with my representatives in the summer.”

OPINION

There’s no denying it, Kent would be a huge loss to Rangers. He has added an exciting dimension to the club’s attack this season and has grown immensely as a player under Gerrard. A total of 12 goal contributions in his first season in the Premiership is an exciting start for Kent, and the winger will only get better under the guidance of the Liverpool legend. Now that Kent has had one season to settle in, he needs to make up his mind whether he wants to stay at Rangers or move elsewhere. The former option looks like the best option, although there would be plenty of other clubs who wouldn’t mind having him in their squad. There is a real chance of Kent staying at Rangers too; while Liverpool need attacking support for their front three, it is unlikely that Jurgen Klopp will immediately integrate the winger into his squad upon the expiration of his loan deal.
