OPINION
Rangers finished the season on an absolute high at Ibrox on Sunday, beating Celtic 2-0, and fans were thrilled by the display of big centre-back Nikola Katic.
He was frozen out of the side by Steven Gerrard, who turned to Joe Worrall instead of the Croatian for much of the season, but on this evidence Connor Goldson and Katic is the way forward for Rangers next season.
Celtic were never at the races today and were second best all over the pitch, and Rangers fans will be convinced that they can beat their rivals to the title next season on this showing – their second victory and clean sheet in a row against their bitter rivals.
As it is, despite a disappointing season, Gerrard has succeeded in narrowing the gap with Celtic and his side has finished on a big high. That’s a big step in the right direction.
As for Celtic, there must be worries about the nature of their performance today, with many fans sceptical about Neil Lennon as new manager.
Today was all about Rangers though and they were fantastic to a man.
