An unbelievable team goal gave the Gers a deserved 2-0 lead over Celtic. Rangers’ Scott Arfield rounded off a phenomenal team move to give Rangers a two-goal advantage. Glen Kamara’s pass was brilliantly left by Jermain Defoe and Arfield was there to slot past Scott Bain in the 63rd minute.

The goal was Arfield’s 11th goal of the campaign and put the game out of sight – Rangers have now beaten Celtic twice at Ibrox this term – and the Gers fans were loving it.

Despite Celtic having already won the league title, the game, of course, meant so much to both clubs and their fans. Some may claim that Celtic were not motivated enough for the game having already triumphed but Rangers were simply the better side on the day – Arfield’s goal put the icing on the cake.

Rangers may have lost the title, however the gap is now just six points between themselves and the champions, and this will give Steven Gerrard encouragement going into the new season. The fact that Rangers have beaten Celtic twice in a single campaign just shows how far they have come. Celtic are yet to appoint a permanent manager and with so much uncertainty, the Gers may feel they have a serious chance of winning the title next term.

Arfield put on a superb display – here’s how Rangers fans reacted to his stunning goal:
