COMMENTARY
Rangers fans might have had their focus on their season-ending clash with Kilmarnock on Sunday but there was also plenty of attention on what their young talents were getting up to on the other side of the world. The Ibrox outfit had sent a young team to take part in the Hong Kong 7s tournament, an exhibition contest which sees clubs from all over the world come together and play a unique seven-a-side cup competition. Having lost out to Newcastle United in the final last season, the two sides were pitted against one another again 12 months later and again it was the Magpies who came out on top in a gripping sudden death finale. However despite defeat the Rangers fans were left blown away by what they saw from 27-year-old forward Josh McPake, who left the Newcastle midfield and defenders chasing shadows with some silky footwork, not to mention a well taken goal to cap off his fine display. Having been pictured training with the first team this season, you can expect McPake will have given Steven Gerrard plenty of food for thought with his impressive performances out in Hong Kong – could a senior debut be in the offing next season?
This is Futbol has gathered a selection of the raving Ibrox faithful’s tweets:
