BBC Sportsound pundit Tam McManus has heaped praise on Rangers as they beat Celtic 2-0 at Ibrox, saying they were “Miles better” than their rivals.

However, he also called the Rangers fans a f******g disgrace” after “signing about the Lisbon Lions”.

He said it showed a “total lack of class”.

Rangers took an early lead in the game at Ibrox on Sunday through James Tavernier and they beat Celtic as comprehensively as they did in in the last Old Firm clash at Ibrox in December.

OPINION

McManus is right – Rangers were miles better than Celtic today. They wanted it much more and Celtic never settled into a rhythm. In fact, if you looked at this match in isolation there was only one team you would have pegged down as champions. However, Celtic had already won the league and it might have been different if the pressure was on. This was Rangers at their very best though, similar to the game in December, and if they could keep their level here for a season they would certainly pose Celtic a lot of problems. The gap is six points now – very different from the 12 that Celtic would have been hoping for. As for the fans, the relationship between the two sides hasn’t been much worse and it’s not helped by the two clubs. Something needs to change but we can’t see where it’s going to come from and it’s unrealistic to expect the fans to make the first move. We’ll just say that both sets of fans could be better when it comes to how they treat each other.
