Steven Gerrard confirmed that Jake Hastie is a player “who will join us next season” and said that he can see the player making an impact for “many, many years”.
Gerrard was talking in the pre-match press conference ahead of the Premiership game against Hibs on Sunday.
Gerrard praised Motherwell for developing him as a player and added that he wanted competition for players next season and that Hastie would be treated “with patience”.
He said that Hastie would “help us add answers in the final third”.
??SG: Jake (Hastie) is one who will join us next season, I'm very aware we want success now but he is one who can help us for many, many years. The Motherwell staff have done a great job with him and we are looking forward to working with.

OPINION
It’s set to be a busy summer for Steven Gerrard and Rangers, and Hastie is a brilliant addition for the future, but it’s not just about incomings at Ibrox. Gerrard went on to talk about Ryan Kent and said that it’s a “possibility” that Rangers can hold onto him. He also said that other clubs were interested in Scott Arfield and that this didn’t surprise him. He said he doesn’t want to lose him and holding onto both of these players could be absolutely key to Rangers. Andre Gray is another player who has been linked with a surprise move to Rangers. Gerrard didn’t comment on the reports but he would be an unbelievable addition, and one that would put the fear into Celtic. Gerrard will be aware that there will be more expectations on him next season and the summer business is going to dictate whether they can mount a serious tilt at the premiership title.
