Celtic goalkeeper Scott Bain has claimed that his side are consistently under more pressure than any other across Europe.

Having won the Scottish League Cup in December, the Hoops were confirmed as Scottish Premiership champions for the eighth season in a row after defeating Aberdeen on Saturday.

Neil Lennon’s side can complete a historic treble Treble of trophies with victory over Hearts in the Scottish Cup final on May 25, which, according to Bain, makes Celtic stand out from their European counterparts.

“Across Europe, you don’t play with a team with more pressure on them than Celtic, 100%,” the 27-year-old told the Daily Record. “I played a minimal role compared to the other boys and they really need to get more credit than they have been getting.

“Time and time again this team just comes up trumps and shows how strong mentally they are. They are miles ahead of everyone in terms of their mental strength.

“When the going gets tough and everything is getting thrown at them, they come through adversity every time. We beat Kilmarnock 1-0 at home and it wasn’t good enough.

“We have seen people say how it’s not been the same, how we’ve not been achieving what we’ve achieved before, but we still go on. We’re unbeaten, we keep winning. The Celtic train just keeps marching on and the lads deserve full credit.”

OPINION

It really would be a fantastic feat if Celtic were to complete the treble treble. It’s never been done in Scotland before and it highlights the incredible consistency from the players and managers. Of course, Brendan Rodgers has to take some credit for it, for he delivered two Premiership titles and two Scottish Cups before claiming his seventh consecutive trophy with the third of three Scottish League cups back in December. There was speculation that Steven Gerrard’s appointment at Rangers could cause a shake-up for Celtic’s season, but it has not turned out like that at all; Celtic have once again been unstoppable and after claiming their eighth successive Premiership crown, you would get seriously long odds for them to fall short of completing the treble treble. The players know they are on the cusp of history and it’s in their minds to get over the line at the end of this month.
