The agent of senior Celtic star Tom Rogic has delivered an update on reports linking him with a move south of the border by insisting there has been no contact for the Australian midfielder.

The 26-year-old was reported by the Daily Express to have been targeted by Premier League side Leicester City in a deal worth as much as £15million, while Southampton were also said to be in the hunt.

However, having had a hit and miss season due to injury, his agent Daniel Berman says that the immediate plans for Aussie maestro are to seal a third successive treble win and that there has not been contact made from any of the interested suitors.

He told the Scottish Sun: “I’ve had no contact from Southampton or Leicester.

“Tom is on a long contract, is winning trophies, respects and loves the institution that is Celtic Football Club. For him, it’s all about the Treble Treble.”

Opinion

Rogic is Celtic through and through and it will take something special to convince him to leave Parkhead any time soon. It is not like he has got to leave because of his age – he is only 26 and with his best years ahead of him. His injury problems mean he might not have played as much this season and as someone who will want to write his name into the Bhoys’ history books, he could well eye another season to cement his place. With 10 league titles in a row in sight, that might well be his aim. He would be 28 if and when they completed that particular achievement and so could still head south of the border to prove himself in England. What seems certain right now is that he is not on the brink of leaving Celtic. Whether that changes over the summer, only time will tell.
