With speculation surrounding some of West Ham’s midfielders, this is a spot that will need strengthening come the summer transfer window.

Hammers wonder-kid Declan Rice has been consistently linked with a move away where as record signing Brazilian Felipe Anderson has reportedly caught the attention of Real Madrid.

As reported by the Mail, Manuel Pellegrini has reportedly turned his nose up at the chance to sign Blackburn Rovers midfielder Bradley Dack for £18million after not agreeing with their valuation.

West Ham were said rivalled for the signing of Dack by fellow London club Crystal Palace who agreed with the Hammers’ stance of walking away after Blackburn’s valuation of their star man.

The 25-year-old has enjoyed a great season in the Championship after helping his side earn promotion from League One, scoring 15 times while assisting seven for his teammates.

Despite this, one successful season in the Championship does not mean that Dack should move to the Premier League, especially for such a huge fee.

West Ham will be scouting fresh players to sign in the summer and Dack should not be one of them. They broke their transfer record twice in the summer and this should be the way they continue to move forward in the summer by targeting marquee midfielders.

The fee for Bradley Dack is way too high and could have been used as a deterrent to clubs higher than them – that tactic has seemed to have worked meaning West Ham have dodged a bullet.
