COMMENTARY
Celtic boss Neil Lennon confirmed, as quoted by the club’s official Twitter account on Thursday morning, that Hoops attacker Scott Sinclair has had a clause triggered in his current contract meaning he will stay at the club for another year – and it has gone down a treat with fans. The 30-year-old has scored 17 goals in his 51 appearance in all competitions for the Bhoys and has been in and out of the side under Lennon. Triggering this clause was a big vote of confidence for the winger from the manager, especially when there was reported interest from England for the winger in the form of Championship side Middlesborough, who were said by the Scottish Sun to be preparing a £2million bid for his services. Celtic are the first club that Sinclair has racked up over 100 games with and this run is set to continue in what will be another big push for what could be their fourth treble in a row next season. Celtic fans mainly reacted positively with the news with claiming it was a “bargain” to keep Sinclair while another said “He’s been brilliant for us, glad he’s staying for another year”.
