Bilic keen on holding Celtic talks

|

Former West Ham and Al Ittihad manager Slaven Bilic is keen on holding talks with Celtic over the manager’s job if Neil Lennon is not handed the position, according to Sky Sports.

The broadcaster claim on their Twitter account that the 50-year-old, who left the Premier League back in November 2017 after being sacked by the Irons, would be open to taking charge at Parkhead, with the Hoops currently under the management of Lennon on a short-term deal.

Bilic is currently out of work after leaving Saudi Arabian outfit Al Ittihad in February.

Opinion

Bilic is an experienced head but you have to question if he has what it takes to lead a club like Celtic to continued glory. He impressed for part of his time at West Ham but that ultimately ended in disappointment, while the less said about his time in Saudi Arabia, the better. Celtic would be a much more demanding job than either the Hammers or Al Ittihad with expectations of not only winning the league but completely dominating Scottish football the bare minimum for the club. Does he really have what it takes? He is yet to prove it in his previous jobs. The Hoops role is likely to be one of the most sought after if Lennon is not kept on board and it should come as no surprise to anyone that potential candidates are already registering their interest. They will have to fight off against some fierce competition to secure the seat in the dugout and you have to question whether Bilic is really the man to take the club forward. One would suspect there are better options out there.
