WWE Superstar Drew McIntyre ridiculed Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor for attempting to mimic his move.

The WWE wrestler, and known Gers supporter, shared he was happy to see his side doing well again and predicted them to beat archrivals Celtic on Sunday.

However McIntyre wasn’t pleased with McGregor getting sent off for kicking Marc McNulty in the win against Hibernian and claimed the shot-stopper did a terrible version of his finishing move the ‘Claymore Kick’.

“So I’m glad to see Rangers competitive again and we are going to win this one,” said McIntyre, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.

“And if McGregor could try not to do my Claymore Kick – he was sent off the other day for attempting to do it.

“It was a terrible version – so if he can avoid doing that again that would be sweet.”

OPINION

McGregor has been slammed across the board for his kick on McNulty but maybe McIntyre showing his displeasure will be what sees the veteran improve his disciplinary record. The 6ft 5in tall wrestler (Source: WWE) is an intimidating presence and maybe one McGregor will secretly be worried about upsetting. However even if that isn’t the case, it’s clear McGregor needs to sort out his bad temper. There’s no denying that the shot-stopper is one of the best for his position in Scotland but his tendency to let his team down by getting sent off is not something Steven Gerrard should put up with. This is especially when you consider that the Gers look dead set on closing the gap with Celtic next season. If McGregor can’t be trusted to stay on the pitch, then it doesn’t matter how talented he is as it’s better to have a keeper who doesn’t lose his cool than anything else.
