OPINION
Rennes centre-back Mexer looks as though he could be on his way to Rangers in the summer with the Daily Record reporting via their live transfer blog on Wednesday [10:42am] that the Scottish club are closing in on a deal for the 30-year-old. Understandably, many Rangers fans on Twitter are thrilled with the potential addition to Steven Gerrard’s squad because he has had a fantastic season with French Cup winners Rennes and is available for free once his contract expires. The Mozambique international is someone with a lot of experience and can plug a gap in Gerrard’s squad once Gareth McAuley and Joe Worrall leave in the summer at the end of their respective deals. These Rangers fans have seen or heard a bit about Mexer since he was linked with a move to Glasgow and clearly they are impressed. Hopefully the ex-Sporting CP defender can live up to expectations and become the best defender in the Scottish Premiership.
