Wolves should make their move in the race for Arsenal attacker Danny Welbeck to improve their chances of signing him as he is worth taking a gamble on.

The Evening Standard reported on Friday that Everton were in pole position to sign the 28-year-old forward, with Wolves, West Ham, Newcastle United and Crystal Palace all keen on signing him.

The newspaper claimed that the Toffees were ahead of their competitors when it came to Welbeck as he wanted to join a club with Champions League ambitions and because they were willing to offer him an increase on his current £100,000-a-week salary.

Given that Welbeck is set to be available on a free transfer this summer with his Arsenal deal set to expire, Wolves should act for him soon in order to beat the Toffees to him as he is a gamble worth taking.

Signing the 28-year-old would see Wolves take a leap of faith as the forward’s injury record is chequered to say the least.

In fact Welbeck only managed eight league appearances in his 2018/19 campaign due to an ankle injury, and his previous injury record (Source: Transfermarkt) shows a history of knee problems that seem to often reoccur.

Yet when fit, and considering he is free, he is the ideal signing for Wolves to make.

Welbeck has plenty of Premier League experience having scored 42 goals in 206 appearances in England’s top-flight and has plenty of experience playing in Europe as he has featured 41 times across the Champions League and Europa League.

Wolves are about to venture into the Europa League next season after finishing seventh in the Premier League and Welbeck’s experience could be very useful to help them defy expectations in the competition.

Also Wolves should have no problems convincing Welbeck to join as surely they have proven they have Champions League ambitions based on how they went about their 2018/19 campaign.

So with that in mind Wolves should act for Welbeck sooner rather than later as he is a gamble that will likely pay off for them.
