Wolves striker Rafa Mir has admitted that his future is in the balance after a successful loan spell away from the club.

The 21-year-old, who moved to Molineux from Valencia B last January, agreed a one-year temporary deal with La Liga 2 side Las Palmas in the summer and scored seven goals for the Spanish side last season.

The loan spell has also seen Mir rewarded with eight Spain Under-21 caps and, speaking to UD Las Palmas, the attacker said that he will focus on his upcoming participation with the national team before making a decision on his future.

“I have a contract there [at Wolves] for two more years,” the striker said. “We have to talk to them to find the best solution for everyone.

“But first I focus on the selection (for Spain under-21s), have a vacation with my family and then we’ll talk.

“I think it’s a see you later. I don’t know what’s going to happen, maybe in a few months I’m here again, that I would not mind because I’m very happy here.

“At the moment it’s a see you later, when I finish the Europeans and have a few days of vacation with my family, we will focus on what we will do next season.”

OPINION

Let’s face it, Mir would be much better off staying at Las Palmas, either on a permanent deal or another loan spell. There is simply no way he would warrant coming back into the Wolves side next season. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have recently signed Raul Jimenez down to a long-term deal following his successful spell in the Midlands, while strike partner Diogo Jota is also a regular starter. You have to say, though, that Mir has impressed while at Las Palmas. He has caught the eye of Spain’s Under-21 setup while there and it now seems as if he is often a regular inclusion in the squad. If he stays at Las Palmas, he will get a lot more first-team football than he would do at Wolves, where a move would see him put back among the list of rotational players and hamper his blossoming international prospects
