The latest comments from Wolves managing director Laurie Dalrymple surely mean that Joao Moutinho can expect a new contract at the club.
The Portuguese midfielder has been a powerhouse in midfield for Wolves in his first season since joining last summer, not missing a single Premier League game.
Speaking to the Birmingham Mail, Dalrymple praised Moutinho for his attitude and hinted that the 32-year-old could be rewarded with a new deal.
“He looks after himself extremely well and I think he’s got many more years left in him where he can hopefully perform at that level, hopefully performing with us, where he can pass on his expertise and wisdom into the group,” the managing director said.
“We knew we wanted to complement that youthful experience and youthful energy with some wider experience from someone who had operated at a very senior level.
“His performances on the pitch have been absolutely phenomenal this year, and that’s been the same, game after game after game.”
A new deal is exactly what Moutinho deserves at Wolves, for he has been simply excellent. To play in every single Premier League game in a single season is phenomenal and he has done that.
Moutinho is one of the main reasons why Wolves have done so well to finish seventh in their first season back in the Premier League. Having been signed for just £5million from Monaco, it was one of the signings of the season.
Not only was Moutinho present in every single Premier League game for his club this season, but he played in all of Wolves’ FA Cup games in their run to the semi-final.
As Dalrymple says, Moutinho is a man who you can rely on. He brings inherent experience and is able to command a team which, for this Wolves side, is often exactly what is needed.
Going forward, the Portuguese is entering the final year of his contract but these latest quotes from Dalyrmple suggest that he could be at Molineux for a bit longer than that.
And that is just what Moutinho deserves after a fantastic debut season with the club.
