Tottenham full-back Danny Rose has said the club must do all they can to keep Mauricio Pochettino at the club this summer.

The Argentine manager has suggested that he could leave North London this summer, despite leading Spurs to their first-ever Champions League final.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Rose urged the Tottenham board to be willing to work with Pochettino, or run the risk of the boss jumping ship.

“[The board] must listen to the manager. He said recently that he needs to know what the next chapter of the club is. I fully agree with everything he says,” the England international said.

“Not many people could operate in the circumstances that he’s done. We had no stadium, we’ve not signed anybody. Tottenham are part of the big six in the Premier League and we have a different way of working.

“Not many managers would have been able to do what Mauricio has done, in terms of securing Champions League football four years in a row and finishing second, third and fourth.”

OPINION

It really would be a travesty for Spurs if Pochettino left. The Argentine has been so influential and has turned the North London club into real European competitors again, getting the club into their first-ever Champions League final by getting past Manchester City and Ajax in the most spectacular fashion. And it is this spectacular fashion of Spurs’ progression which is the root of Pochettino’s worries about his future, as he has said previously that winning the Champions League this season will not be topped by anything else he does with the club in the future. He has a point. Manchester City and Liverpool do not look like slowing down at any rate – at least not in the Premier League – leaving Spurs with little chance of pipping them to the title. But if they can focus on domestic cup competitions and the Champions League, there is a real chance for more success with this team.
