David Gold has announced that Nathan Holland has signed a new contract that will keep him at West Ham until 2022.

Gold sent the tweet on his personal Twitter account on Friday afternoon and said, “Congratulations Nathan and good luck”.

The 20-year-old winger has made one senior appearance for West Ham back in 2017 in the FA Cup.

Holland has played for the West Ham Under-23s this season but was on the first-team bench once for the game against Man United.

Holland’s previous deal was due to expire in 2020.

OPINION

Great news for West Ham and for Holland who has suffered from injury in the past 12 months. Back to fitness, he’s played 10 games for the Under-23s this season and there are high hopes that the youngster will develop under manager Manuel Pellegrini and start to push for a first-team place. He joins Declan Rice, Grady Diangana, Ben Johnson and Nathan Trott in signing new deals with West Ham this season. It’s been a mixed season for the Hammers and it’s fair to say that the team that Pellegrini has assembled hasn’t always lived up to expectations this season. However, they did become the first team to beat Tottenham at their new stadium last weekend and that’s a big feather in the cap. However, they’re 11th in the table with two games to go and they’re closer to the relegation zoze than they are to sixth place. That won’t be acceptable next season. However, there’s also a feeling that the squad is almost there but Pellegrini will need to strengthen again in the summer, with a top striker surely at the top of the list. We can’t see Andy Carroll staying on and West Ham are still missing a player who can guarantee 20+ goals in a season.
